Getting Started

My username is taken. What do you suggest I do?
Due to an increase in user numbers, a user name may be taken. If so, please pick another username or add other characters to the username. For example, if you choose the username “Joe” and it has been taken, try adding Joe1234 to make it different.

I forgot my username and password, how do I recover it?
Go to the “Login” page and click on the “Forgot Password” link. An email with your username and password will be sent via the email you confirmed with Nepalitube.

How do I change my email and password?
Go to “My Account” and click on the “Password/Email” link. You will be sent an email confirming your new password or email shortly.

How do I confirm my email address?
Email confirmation is an easy process. Once you click the “Sign Up” button, you will receive an email to confirm your choice to sign up for Nepalitube. Click the confirmation link in the email. Confirming your email address is required in order to upload videos and post
comments.

If you do not receive your confirmation email, please check your spam filter. If you do not receive your confirmation email within an hour, please email us at info@Nepalitube.com and an Nepalitube staff member will respond.

Will I be able to make an avatar on Nepalitube?
At present, we do not offer the ability for users to create avatars or special, graphical images to represent oneself on the site.

Engaging Others

How can I inform others that I have a new video?
Simple. Send them an email that you have just uploaded a new video or have them subscribe to your channel. To view your subscriptions, go to “My Account.” Under the “Profile and Channel” section there will be the “View My Subscribers” link. Have your friends subscribe to your channel. They will be informed of any new content uploaded to your channel.

How do I add friends?
Simple. Find a profile that you like and under their picture thumbnail click “Add to Friends.” The profile user will either accept an invitation to become friends or not. You can also send an email to this user if you wish.

How do I send a person a private message?
Find the profile of the user you want to send a message to then under their picture click “Send Message.” The message will appear in the user’s inbox.

What can friends do on Nepalitube?
Friends is a type of list that you can create to allow you to easily share videos with other users. By adding friends, you can share personal videos. The “Add to Friend” button is located under the video player.

I have received a friend invitation, how do I accept it?
Just go to your inbox located at the top-left corner of Nepalitube and open your inbox. The message will say you have an invitation from a particular user. Click “Accept” and you will add this person to your friend list.

How do I subscribe to someone's videos?
Go to a user’s channel and open it. In the “Connect with Channel Owner” section there is a button that reads, “You Are Not Subscribed – Subscribe.” Click on this button and mark it private or public. Once this is done, your new subscription will be listed in your user profile.

How do I unsubscribe to a user’s videos?
Simply go to the user’s channel and click the button, “You Are Subscribed – Unsubscribe.”

How do I unsubscribe to certain tags?
In the “My Subscriptions” page click on the “Tags” button and your tags will appear. Find the tag you want to unsubscribe to and click on the trash can under the icon.

How do I subscribe to certain tags?
Go to the “My Subscriptions” page and type in the tag you want to subscribe to in the tag search bar and hit “Subscribe.” You can make this tag public or private.

What is Nepalitube group?
A group is a collection of users who share similar interests and have linked themselves together by subscribing to a particular channel or category. Groups allow for multiple users to discuss video content publicly or privately.

How do I create a Nepalitube group?
Go to the “My Groups” section. On the right-hand column, see the link “Create a Group” under the “Action” tab and simply click on this link and follow the instructions. You can then mark this group public or private and ask other friends or other users to join.

How do I join a Nepalitube group?
Go to the “My Groups” section. At the bottom of the page there will be a button that reads, “Find a Group to Join.” Click this link and you will be shown several groups to join. Check the box near the group you like and click “Join Group.”

How do I delete a group I have created?
Simply go to “My Groups” and find the group that you created. On the right-hand side of your video you will find a trash bin. Click the “Trash”and your group will be deleted.

Community

How do I join the Nepalitube community?
To become a member of Nepalitube, go to www.Nepalitube.com and click the “Sign Up” button in the center of the home page. Once you click the “Sign Up” button then choose a username and password then enter your user information. Once this information is completed you will receive a confirmation email. Click on the “confirm” link and sign in to Nepalitube using your Nepalitube username and password. You are now a new member to the Nepalitube community!

What are featured videos and how do I get a video featured?
The Nepalitube community rates videos they like and based on these ratings, the Nepalitube staff selects videos to become "Featured Videos." You can rate videos on the home page and the featured videos on the "Categories" page. In addition, our programming team takes suggestions from members at editor@Nepalitube.com and scans the site for videos of interest.

What does rating a video do and why should I do it?
User’s can rate videos from one to five stars under the video player. Rating a video allows users to sort out videos from one star (not good) to five stars (exceptional). By rating videos, user’s can track, sort and comment on videos they like or dislike.

I cannot rate a video, what should I do?
Only logged on users can rate videos so double check that you are logged on properly. Clearing your cache and cookies also helps when trying to rate a video. To do this, press “CTRL” and “F5” together and then re-launch your browser and log back on to Nepalitube. If you are still experiencing problems then contact us at help@Nepalitube.com.

How do I comment on a video?
Watch a video and then add comments in the comment section under the player.

I am not happy with the comment I made on someone’s video, how do I delete it?
Unfortunately, you cannot delete or edit comments you make after they are posted on other people’s videos. Only the person who uploaded the video and the Nepalitube administrative team can remove comments after they are posted on someone’s video.

I cannot comment on a video, what do you suggest I do?
Make sure you have confirmed your email confirmation and have logged in. If you still cannot comment on a video, send a bug report. The “Bug Report” button is located on the top right-hand corner of Nepalitube. We will get back to you shortly.

If I want to remove a comment from one of my videos, what should I do?
Comments are found under the video player in the comment section. On the right side of the video in question, click “Remove.” This action will remove the comment from your video.

Are there limits to the number of comments I can post?
No. Have fun.

Is there a way to limit the comments on my videos?
Yes, when you embed or upload a video, you can limit comments by clicking “Yes – approval requested” or “No.” If you choose “Yes – approval requested,” you will be notified before anyone comments on your video.

Viewing Videos

How do I watch and save videos?
Log in and search the Nepalitube site. When you come to a video you like simply left click on it and you will have selected the video. Left click on the video again and the video will commence. If you wish to save the video then click the “Add to My Favorites” link below the player. This will save the video to your favorites enabling you to view this video at any time.

Is it possible to download a video and watch it later?
At this time, it is not possible to download a video and watch it later.

Uploading and Embedding Videos

How do I upload a video to the Nepalitube website?
After you have edited and finalized your video, you are ready to upload it to Nepalitube. Nepalitube will accept videos in the following formats: WMV, QuickTime .MOV, Windows .AVI, or .MPG files. Ideally, we recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 320x240 resolution with MP3 audio. By tailoring your video to these specifications, your video will have a better look and feel on Nepalitube. If I want to upload a video, do I need to sign in first?
You do. Nepalitube’s community members have certain advantages, uploading videos is one of them. Other advantages include creating a channel and playlists, leaving comments and much, much more.

What is the maximum size and length for my video?
The maximum size for uploaded video is 150MB. The length of the video depends on the compression but a safe rule of thumb is 8 to 12 minutes in length.

Is there a limit to how many videos I can upload?
Currently, there is no limit.

My video upload has taken a long time, what should I do?
Depending on the size of the video and the user’s connection to the internet, an upload can take several hours to upload. Multiple uploads from many user’s can also strain our servers. We recommend that if your video is taking longer than 12 hours to complete then cancel the upload. Re-check the video file again for errors and try again.

I have uploaded a video, where do I find it?
Under the website’s header there will be several links that pertain to a user’s individual account. These links include: My Account My Videos My Favorites Friends Inbox My Groups My Profile My Channel History.. Click on the “My Account” button or “My Videos.” If you are on a page that does not have these links then go to the “My Account” link in the upper right-hand corner of the website. Click on the "My Uploaded Videos" link.

I searched for my video in the search but it does not show up. What should I do?
Traffic to Nepalitube fluctuates depending on user usage. If Nepalitube is experiencing heavy traffic, finding your video in our search may take some time. If this occurs, please check back with Nepalitube at a later time. If your video does not show up in the search within an hour please email us at help@Nepalitube.com.

Your new uploaded video will appear in the “My Videos” section of the sub-navigation bar. If you cannot find it through a search of the Nepalitube site, please check this section.

How do I embed a video?

To embed a video, follow these simple rules:

1. Copy the embed code from the video you enjoy.
2. Click the “Upload Video” tab and then click the “Embed Video” tab.
3. Paste the embed code into the embed code tray.
4. Copy the thumbnail URL, make sure it is a .jpeg.
5. Paste the .jpeg into the thumbnail URL tray.
6. Write in the length of the video, the tags, a description, the category, genre, and location.
7. Mark the video for public or private use.
8. Mark the video to allow for comments or ratings.
9. Click “Upload.”

Search and History

Do you save my search history?
Yes, the Nepalitube browser will save your history. If you do not want your browser to save your search history then please clear your browser.

How do I get back to a video I watched a couple of minutes ago?
On the home page in the sub-navigation section, below the header, there is a “History” button. Click the “History” button to view your recently viewed videos. The “History” button can also be viewed through the “My Account” section at the top right-hand corner of the website.

How do I clear my Viewing History?
At the top right corner of each page is a line of utility links. Click the “History” link to see your viewing history. To clear it, click the “Clear Viewing History” link at the bottom of the video list. The viewing history will also be cleared automatically when you quit the browser.

Channels

How do I customize my new channel?
Go to “My Account.” Under the “Profile and Channel” section, click on either “Edit Channel Info” or “Customize Theme.” Both of these links will give you the option of filling out information about the channel and yourself (“Edit Channel Info”) or creating the look and feel of your channel (“Customize Theme”).

What’s the difference between a channel and a profile?
Your personal user information is stored on your profile. This information allows you to tell others a little about yourself. For example, users who visit your profile can know about your favorite videos, your subscribers to your channel, your comments, your statistics, etc. A channel is where you showcase your interests. It is a place where users can watch your videos, connect with you by sending you a message, add you as a friend or add comments.

What is a Playlist?
A “Playlist” is a specific group of videos built around a particular theme. This theme is chosen by the user. Playlists can be shared with the public or they can be kept private. To access the “Playlist,” check the box next to the video and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Use the scroll button to change the search from “Add to Favorites” to “Add to Playlist” and then click “Go.” You will be prompted to choose a “Playlist” from your “Playlist” categories. The video will now appear in that selected “Playlist.”

How do I create a Playlist?
Creating a “Playlist” is easy. Simply go to “My Videos” or “My Favorites” and select “New Playlist.” Type in the name of your new “Playlist” and then hit return. You can also create a new “Playlist” by going to “My Account” and selecting “My Videos” and then selecting “Playlist” and then “New Playlist.”

Am I able to share Playlists?
Yes, through a channel. A channel must be created in order for users to view your “Playlists.”

Tags? What are these? How do I use them?
Tags are keywords that are used in a search to describe a video. If, for example, you do a search on “kumar,” a tag will be created. When several other users search for kumar the tag will grow in relevance. In simpler terms, tags help others find videos you and others upload.

Add tags to your videos by clicking the "My Videos" link and selecting "Edit Video Info." Enter as many tags as you'd like into the “Tags” field and click the "Update Video Info" button at the bottom of the page.

How do you create a personalized thumbnail?
Your profile icon, or your thumbnail, is what users will see when they visit your profile. To add a thumbnail, go to “My Profile” and click the “Browse” button in the “Upload New Picture” section. Once you find a picture of yourself you like, simply select it and click “Update My Profile.” For best results, Nepalitube asks that the thumbnail be 120 by 120. If you upload your thumbnail and it is distorted, please crop your picture to meet these dimensions.

Editing or Customizing Videos

Can I make a video private?
Yes. When you are embedding or uploading a video, check the created list in the broadcast section at the end of the page. This section will only be available for members on that list. If you have not created a list before marking a video private and only want to send the video to your friends, choose “All Contacts.” This video will only be available to your Nepalitube user friends.

How do I remove one of my videos?
To remove your video, go to “My Videos” and click the check box to the left of the video. Scroll down to the footer and find the “Delete” button in the search bar and click “Go.” Another option is to click the “Delete” icon under the video thumbnail.

How do I edit the information I entered about my video?
In the “My Video” section, click on the “Edit” icon under the video thumbnail. This will allow you to edit the information entered about your video.

What is the best way to promote and describe my video?
Be very clear about what your video is about and try to capture the essence of the video in a short phrase. The best videos are those that are distinctive from others. Another way to promote your video is to place the video in an appropriate category.


Will Nepalitube tell me who is watching my video?
No, not at the moment; the best way to keep tabs on people who watch your videos is to have them subscribe to your channel.

How do I change what I wrote about my video?
Under the video player, click “edit” and you will be able to revise your comments.

What is a Video Log and how do I create it?
A Video Log is a video weblog. It is a video that will be featured on your channel.

To create a Video Log go to “My Favorites” and click on the “New Playlist” button. The “New Playlist” button will ask you to create a “Playlist”; at the bottom of this new “Playlist” you will be asked if you want this “Playlist” to be your video log. Simply click this box and mark the “Playlist” as public or private.

Is it possible to change my videos in my Video Log?
Yes, it is. Find a video that you like in your “Favorites” and then click on it. Under the video player click on the link that reads, “Add to Video Log.” You can post comments if you like; click “OK.”

To remove or delete the videos from your Playlists, check the box to the left of each video you want to remove and click either “Remove from List” or “Delete.”

Account and Policy Issues

How do I close my account?
Go to “My Account” and click on “Close Account.” This action will close your account and delete the videos within it. Make sure you have copies of your videos before you delete your account. When you log out of Nepalitube your account will be closed.

Can I re-open a previous account?
No, not at this time. If you have concerns about deleting an account, consider that once an account is deleted it is permanently gone.

My account was suspended, why?
If your account was suspended it was due to a violation of the Nepalitube’s “Terms of Use.” The Nepalitube team will notify you of an account violation before an account is suspended. If you did not receive an email of the violation, please check your spam filter. If you have any further questions regarding this suspension, contact us at help@Nepalitube.com.

Can I change my username and save my videos?
Currently, this is not possible. If you delete a username, the videos will be deleted as well. Please be wary of changing your username.

How do I flag inappropriate content?
Under the video player, click the link “Flag as Inappropriate.” The Nepalitube team will review video in question and take proper action.

What are a user’s limitations on Nepalitube?
